Transitions

Abbie appears to have settled quite happily into college life. We hear from her about once a week, only because we asked for that level of communication. I have heard about some of her new friends and get a little -- very little -- information about her classes. This is the same pattern as when she was in high school when seeing her report card every quarter was pretty much all we knew of her academics. I can only hope, and am confident, that she is making the same good decisions that she made when she was living at home.

As for me, believe it or not, it was easier to take her off to college than it was to let her start driving. A reflection of my love of college and relative dislike of cars (especially cars with teen-age drivers).

We have settled into our new normal routine and it is good. We now subscribe to Netflix and are enjoying regular movie nights. I'm taking a Pilates class on Saturdays (my goal is to have less pain the day after) and still work at getting in at least 10,000 steps/day. I enrolled in a Lutheran doctrine class at our church. And I'm making inroads on my "to read" book shelf. Just keeping body and soul together.
